Finding school clothes for their teenagers can be quite a struggle for many parents. They need to concern themselves with school dress codes to make sure that their child’s high school uniforms are up to standard, yet their teenager often wants to show a little bit of personality at the same time. Striking an even balance can often leave a parent and child at odds over what is appropriate schoolwear and what is not. A possible way to find a happy middle ground is to explore the possibility of accessories.
Depending upon the school’s actual dress code, oftentimes accessories provide the perfect opportunity for a child to show a little bit of their personality and quirkiness. While many teenagers want to be just like all the other teens and not stand out at all, just as many others want to show that they are not cookie cutter teens and have an individual personality and characteristics all of their own. By opting for fun and funky accessories, they still get to show a little bit of style yet confirm to school dress code policy. Teenage girls can opt for quirky hair accessory items like hair clips and headbands. They can add unusual earrings or bangles to spice up the look of their uniform. Depending upon the style of the uniform, they can even opt for an unusual necklace or choker. These options only work if there are no restrictions against them, so it definitely pays to do a little investigative work prior to purchasing. Check with administrators to make sure of which items are allowed and which ones are not and then once you have the go ahead you can add all sorts of fun accessory items.
Teenage boys do not have it quite so easy. When it comes to adding a little character to their schoolboy outfits, there really is not much that they can do. They can add a sport watch to their outfit but that is about the extent of it. Many uniform policies forbid unusually colored socks and changing out a tie is generally strictly against the rules. If the uniform utilizes a polo shirt with an open collar there is the option of wearing a small gold or silver chain, but that is about the extent of accessorizing for boys uniforms.
